The 79th Texas Legislative session ended on May 30. A list of all alcohol-related bills filed by your State Senator or State Representative, signed into law and awaiting Governor Perry's signature can be found in the

In Texas, that means .08% of Blood Alcohol Content or any amount which results in loss of normal use of mental or physical faculties. This is only a guide and NOT sufficiently accurate to be considered legal evidence. The figures you calculate are averages. Individuals may vary somewhat in their personal alcohol tolerance. On average, young people who drink alcohol begin drinking at 13.1 years of age, long before the legal age of 21. United States Department of Health and Human Services , National Household Survey, 1998.

Operation Fake Out
The TABC has developed Operation Fake Out. Operation Fake Out is a cooperative venture involving the alcoholic beverage retailers, the TABC, the Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Secret Service and whenever possible, local law enforcement.

Drinking and Driving
The risk of a teenager being involved in a crash when they drink alcohol is much higher than that of an adult. —Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, "Beginning Teen Drivers ," March 27, 2003.

The decision to drive after drinking or ride with someone who has been drinking appears to be related to teens' perception of their ability to control the situation, how likely they think it is that they will be caught, and how common they think the behavior is among their peers. Most teens surveyed said that they would choose drinking and driving rather than appear irresponsible in front of their parents.—"Why do they do it? Texas leads the nation in alcohol-related crash deaths among 15 to 20 year olds. In 2000, almost half of the fatal car crashes among 15 to 20 year olds were alcohol-related— National Highway Traffic Safety Administration , Traffic Safety Facts 2001.
