TABC Seller Server Course FAQs - Questions

Click Here to Enroll in TABC Certification CourseWhat is the cost of a seller training course?
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission does not regulate the fee for the course. Each school sets its own fee. Our fee is $25.00.

How long does the course take?
The online TABC seller/server certification course is approximately 200 minutes in length (3 hours 20 minutes), which is the amount of time required by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. You are allowed to take up to six consecutive hours to complete the seller training course. For instance, if you start the TABC training course at 1pm, you must complete it by 7pm.

Can I log out of the course? You can log out of the seller training course at anytime; however, please remember that you must complete the course within six hours as required by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Is there a final exam?
Yes, by TABC regulation, each student must complete the final exam with a minimum score of 70%. If you do not pass the seller training exam on the first attempt, you may take it again immediately. If you fail the exam on the second attempt, you must retake the entire seller training course from the beginning at no additional charge before attempting the final exam again.

Can I use a dial-up or modem connection?
Yes, the system will detect if you are on a broadband connection or not. If you are on a slower connection, you will be enrolled in a "low" bandwidth version of the TABC seller training course. You can toggle between high and low bandwidth versions of the course by clicking the headphones icon located in the lower, right corner of the course.

Will my computer work with the TABC certification course?
The TABC-Training.com online seller/server training course will work on almost any computer with Internet access. Prior to beginning the course, our system will check your computer to ensure it meets the minimum requirements. If you computer does not meet these requirements, you will be instructed on how to continue.

How long is seller training certification valid?
The Seller Training certification is valid for two years from the date it is issued. If you are unsure of the date you were certified, you may look it up on the inquiry screen located at https://www.tabc.state.tx.us/liccom/seller/default.htm.

Are there additional requirements to becoming certified? Can I be certified if I have had a DWI or other felony conviction? Can I become certified if I am under 18?
There are no additional requirements to become certified. There is no minimum age requirement to attend a seller training course, and there are no requirements regarding criminal history. However, your age or criminal history may prevent an employer from hiring you.

How do I find out if I am certified?
You can verify the certification status of any employee at the Employee Inquiry screen located at: https://www.tabc.state.tx.us/liccom/seller/default.htm. You will need your name and social security number.

If I have been through the seller training once, do I have to go again every two years? Or is there a test I can take to become recertified? Is there a different (shorter) course to take for recertification?
To maintain certification you must attend the full seller training course every two years. There is no way to "test out" of the class, and there is not a different, shorter recertification class.

I lost my seller training certification card. How can I obtain another copy?
You can print a verification sheet that will contain the issue date, expiration date, certificate number, staus, name and date of birth for an individual from our website at https://www.tabc.state.tx.us/liccom/seller/default.htm. Enter the social security number and date of birth in the format requested under employee inquiry.

C412 - TABC Certificate Reprint Request - Note: The TABC is currently updating their system. You may be required to know the name of the school and the date you attended or completed the class if tabc personnel have to do a hand search.
